Your rooflights are covered by our guarantee from the day they leave our factory. No complicated registration forms to complete or any need to upload several invoices. The NuDawn guarantee is simple to understand and sets out the guarantee period for various components and parts used on your NuDawn rooflight.
Whilst the guarantee is there to provide assurances that your product will last, you do have a responsibility to look after the product during the guarantee period to ensure that the cover remains in place. You will need to maintain and care for your rooflights, regardless of their location, as per the requirements set out below.
You will have been provided with your guarantee folder at the point of invoice and this contains many of the documents listed on our website. If for any reason you have not received this folder or have lost it please contact us for a replacement, as not having the information cannot be not a valid reason for failure to care for and maintain your rooflights.
Our standard paint finish is for a C3 environment which is the normal urban/industrial location with moderate SO2 levels. If your property is located in an industrial or coastal location with SO2 levels exceeding 30mg/m3 then we can supply an uprated paint finish for a C4 environment.
Please note that the uprated C4 paint application will still require regular maintenance. Whilst the paint finish offer a more hardy life, it is used in a more aggressive environment and must be cared for.
The frequency of cleaning depends in part on the standard of appearance that is required and also the requirement to remove deposits that are likely, during prolonged contact with either the powder or the metal, cause damage. In rural or normal environments the period between cleaning can be extended to up to 12 months however, if heavy soiling occurs more regular cleaning is required. For coastal or industrial areas with humid and aggressive atmospheres the cleaning schedule should be reduced to 3 monthly.
Aluminium rooflights are typically protected by a powder coat paint finish. The paint coating stops corrosive debris and moisture reaching the frame material and helps to prolong the lifespan of the product.
Over time and with exposure to the elements, powder coatings may show signs of weathering such as loss of colour or chalking. A simple regular clean will minimise the effects of weathering and will remove dirt, grime and other build-up detrimental to all coatings.
The best method of cleaning is by regular washing of the coating using a solution of warm water and non-abrasive, pH neutral detergent solution. Surfaces should be thoroughly rinsed after cleaning to remove all residues. All surfaces should be cleaned using a soft cloth or sponge or nothing harsher than a soft natural bristle brush. If the project is subject to any hazardous unusual environmental factors, or is close to salt water, an estuary or marine environments then please make this known prior to placing an order.
Failure to adhere to regular cleaning and maintenance will result in the deterioration of the protective paint coating and may reduce the lifespan of the rooflight. It is essential to have a regular maintenance to ensure that your rooflight remains covered by the guarantee.
It is essential that you care for your rooflight to maximise the lifespan of the product. Maintaining the good looks of your paint coating is just like caring for your car and is a smart way to protect your investment.
